Nursing Jilbabs

I haven't posted for a long time ,since I became Mom and been very busy with my little one..
Now there is something that I'm concerned about as a mother ,which is ,where to find Nursing Jilbabs ,that can be practical ,easy and fast to open and in nice colors.
I did some reasearch in online Islamic stores and I would like to share what I found with other sisters who are breastfeeding and also looking for Nursing Jilbabs ..

This is my first finding and my most favorite jilbabs ,because there are many beautiful colors to choose from including light blue ,khaki ,royal blue ,purple and more ..The Jilbabs are plain ,with no design on them ,that's exactly what I like about my clothing ,so it is perfect choice for me ..
Jilbab has a zipper and is made of peachskin fabric ,that is very practical and doesnt need much ironing.

This store also has varities of Hijabs in different colors and also Hijabs and Niqab matching sets in beautiful colors

2.Sunnahstyle.com

For the sisters who like larger style of abaya or jilbab ,these are excellent for Nursing .
These abayas have a zipper on the front and are very large and made of good quality lightwigt fabric ..

There are only two colors :black or navy blue

I think this is most interesting Nursing Jilbab I found .It seams to be very practical and easy to use when breastfeeding .
Basically this jilbab has a hidden zipper across your chest ..
Please click on the link to view the jilbab
It comes in navy blue and grey ..

This is all I found so far .Please share with me if you know any other store selling Nursing Jilbabs ..

Also Nursing Covers is a very good option .
Please ckeck this web site and use this coupn that I have to get a free cover " Family2010"

Share your Hijab story

It took me 2 years after my convertion to Islam to take a decision to wear Hijab .
When I became a Muslim I had no idea that Hijab was obligatory .I thought it only needed when we pray or go to Mosque .Even for the prayer I used to wear a see- through Hijab ,which was barely covering my hair .It was actually a cover wrap for a swimsuit that I was using to serve the purpose of Hijab .Its funny I know .
I'm sure all of us converts to Islam have many funny and embarassing moments .
Before wearing Hijab I started with long sleeve shirts ,which were tight, then started wearing skirts ,which was really a challenge for me ,because I was totally not used to that.
After a while step by step I started getting used to my new clothes and started wearing bandanna like style Hijab from time to time ,when I was going to Wal Mart or library,or Masjid .
It looked something like this .
Please note, this is not correct Hijab ...

So I started wearing Hijab this way everywhere ,except for my work place .
I used to work in retail and was always on public in a very crowded work place ,so it was a big challenge for me to change my looks completely .
All I could do is to make Dua to Allah to make this task easy on me .I didn't know how and when I will put Hijab on ,but after a while I started to have a feeling of guilt and shame for not obeying the commands of Allah Subhana wa Taala .I started feeling ashamed to go out without covering my hair .I started hide my hair in a pony tail .I felt so weird to leave my hair down in front of everyone .
One day ,on Friday, I went to a Mosque for Jummah prayer and wrapped my bandanna Hijab around my hair ,but covering my neck also and it was almost proper Hijab and that day I went to visit my brother ,who is not Muslim .
He said nothing at all ,no reaction at all ,no comment .It gave me  confidence .After that, the whole day wherever I went I wouldn't take my Hijab off .Since that day I decided I'm ready !!!
I went to work next day with my Hijab on .Well,I had some earrings sticking out of my Hijab ,which was wrong ,but it looked really nice .
When I was opening a store ,one Indian lady came up to me and said  I love your Scarf ,it looks very nice ,I really love it .She asked if I wear it becuase I'm a Muslim ,I said yes .She said it looks really beautiful and she left .The same day I got  a lot of complements from people about my scarf and it made me feel so much better .Few days later I started wearing proper Hijab .I was using too many pins though ,making sure it wont slip off .
So this is how I started.I still was wearing pants and long shirts then started wearing skirts  .
It was hard for a while I'm not gonna say it was easy ,but I got used to it and at the end I knew why am I doing this .I do it for my Creator ,to please Him only ,and not to please people .

A year ago I decided to wear Jilbab .
One day I was looking for something online and I came across this verse ,which I read many times before ,but that day I reread it many many times ,before I understood.
Ya ayyuha an-Nabiyy qul li azwajika wa banatika wa nisa al-mu'minin yudnina alayhinna min jalabib hinna; dhalika adna an yu'rafna fa laa yu'dhayn. Wa kana Allahu Ghafur Rahim
O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their JALABIB close around them; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.
The word "jalabib" is the plural of "jilbab". Clearly, this ayah states a command for Muslim women to wear a garment which Allah SWT has called "jilbab".

Beyond this, the hadiths record how the sahabiyat (rAa) went about obeying Surah al-Ahzab ayah 59 when it was revealed:
Sunan Abu Dawud Book 32 #4090. Narrated Umm Salama, Umm al-Mu'minin: When the verse, "That they should draw their jalabib close around them" was revealed, the women of Ansar came out as if they had crows over their heads by wearing jalabib.
This hadith shows that the correct way to obey it is to wear the garment called "jilbab", since that is what the sahabiyat (rAa) did. Note that they did not hesitate or delay or make excuses: when they were told by Allah SWT to wear the garment called "jilbab", they did, right away.
And there is more even than this. Some of the women remained in seclusion and never went out so that they did not own the garment called "jilbab". The hadiths record that the Prophet (sAas) commanded the women to come out for the Eid gathering, and what he said about the issue of the garment called "jilbab":
Sahih Bukhari Book 8 #347. Narrated Umm Atiyya: We were ordered to bring out our menstruating women and screened women to the religious gatherings and invocation of the Muslims on the two Eid festivals. These menstruating women were to keep away from the musalla. A woman asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What about one who does not have a jilbab?". He said, "Let her borrow the jilbab of her companion".

I know there is difference of opinion about what Jilbab is and about covering the face ,which is my next step inshaAllah, but  when I read that women did not even go out or their houses if they didn't have Jilbab, I told myself that I will not go out of my house tomorrow without my abaya .It was the only one I owned at that time .Black Saudi abaya ,which was a gift from overseas ,alhamdulillah ..
So this was my choice and it was my decision ..
I don't want to judge anyone who doesnt wear Hijab or Jilbab ,because I know it doesnt come easy and it takes time and transition  ,especially for the revert sisters .
May Allah give us taqwa and understanding of our Deeen and may all of us sisters follow the example of great women ,Sahabiyat (RA)and may Allah perfect our character and make us like them ..

Please share your Hijab story ,may be it will inspire others to wear Hijab...

Battle over face veil brewing in Egypt

Its really hard to tell what's going on exactly about Niqab issue in Egypt .Media here is so twisted and ridiculous .This article I saw on Yahoo news today http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091102/lf_nm_life/us_egypt_niqab has completely wrong explanation of Niqab and Muslims in Egypt and Saudi Arabia .The Media only expressetheir Western views ,covering the reality ..

For example, they saying Saudi Arabia following Wahabi views and wearing Niqab is from Wahabi teachings.

Let me first explain you that there is no such a thing as Wahabism and there are no Muslims who call themselves Wahabis ,Wahabis is a western term created by Media ..

Also I really ask my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters to be careful when you use this word and calling others wahabis, because Al Wahab is one of the names of Allah Subhana wa Taala ,which means Bestower  .

I also ask everyone to educate yourself about who was Imam Wahab ,before you start calling others names .He was only a man who was following Tawheed (Monotheism) and revived Sunnah(way of the Prophet, peace be upon him).

I recommend some articles here

http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39897&highlight=Wahabism

Question:
Is there a religious sect called 'wahhabi' ?

Answer:
There is no such sect with this name. Rather this is just a nick name that the people of falsehood have branded it on the people who uphold the truth, the people of tawheed (Oneness of Allaah in everything). And this name they refer it to Shaykh Muhammad ibn AbdulWahhab, may Allaah have mercy on him. And he is a great Imaam from the Imaams of who brought religious rectification in the lands of Najd. 1 Thus he called to going back and establishing Tawheed (after people were into shirk) and reviving the methodology of the Salaf (pious predecessors). In this effort of his; the clan of Saud helped him until they managed to relinquish and remove almost all the shirk and bid'a (innovations), like calling on the dead people in the graves, and extremism in praising other humans. Thus all of the lands of Najd returned to Tawheed (Oneness of Allaah in everything) and Ikhlaas (sincerity in worshipping of Allaah) May Allaah have mercy on them and reward them greatly.

Shaykh Muhammad Khalil Harras

Now ,about a Niqab .Let me remind you something .All the wives of the Prophet ,peace be upon him, used to wear a Niqab(face veil) .We call them Mothers of the believers .They are best example for us ,that we should follow .Then how ,can we as Muslims be against something that our Mothers did ? Why there are so many Muslims out there ,WHO HATE NIQAB ,and say it is not from Islam  .Why there are so many Muslim women ,who wear Hijab, but look down on Niqabi sisters? Shouldn't we be ashamed? No Muslim should look down upon another Muslim ?Have we forgot it?

I understand everyone has their own views .Yes ,there are many who don't support Niqab ,that's fine ,but at least don't speak against it ! It is others choise. At the end it is Allah Who will judge us all.Have you forgot ?

I personally believe that Niqab is not obligatory ,but is Mustahab(preferrable). This is my personal opinion.

I do agree that Muslim women don't have to cover their faces in front of female students.I don't know what's exactly is going on in Egypt ,because the Media ,as I said is very twisted .If anyone from that part of the world can enlighten me I will really appreciate it .

 Please leave your comments !!!!

This is the article on yahoo .Please speak out ,please post your comments ,please defend your sisters in Islam.

Salam aleikum

I decided to make this blog for the sisters who are struggling with Hijab here in the West .It is not easy for many of us to fit to the society . We all know that in every society we are judged first by the way we look ...

Its hard for many of us ,especially for converts /reverts ,because sometimes we feel like our style is still somewhere in the Middle, between East and West .

One thing to remember, is that we have to always first look at the Quran and Sunnah ..
This is where we should look for guidance and for answer to our questions ...

We should stop wearing what people tell us to wear .We need to look at the Quran and at the Sunnah of the Prophet peace be upon him ..

I been wearing skirt and tops and mixing and matching, until recently I started thinking about this verse in the Quran .It made me convienced ,that Quran tells us to wear an outer garment ,called Jilbab..Please read this and think about it ...
I know there are differences in opinion about this verse..

In the Quran, Surah al-Ahzab ayah 59 (33:59) says:

Ya ayyuha an-Nabiyy qul li azwajika wa banatika wa nisa al-mu'minin yudnina
alayhinna min jalabib hinna; dhalika adna an yu'rafna fa laa yu'dhayn. Wa
kana Allahu Ghafur Rahim

O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the
faithful to draw their JALABIB close around them; that is better that they
will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.

The word "jalabib" is the plural of "jilbab". Clearly, this ayah states a
command for Muslim women to wear a garment which Allah SWT has called
"jilbab".

Beyond this, the hadiths record how the sahabiyat (rAa) went about obeying
Surah al-Ahzab ayah 59 when it was revealed:

Sunan Abu Dawud Book 32 #4090. Narrated Umm Salama, Umm al-Mu'minin: When
the verse, "That they should draw their jalabib close around them" was
revealed, the women of Ansar came out as if they had crows over their heads
by wearing jalabib.

In case there is any confusion about how the Muslim sister is supposed to go
about obeying Surah al-Ahzab ayah 59, this hadith shows that the correct way
to obey it is to wear the garment called "jilbab", since that is what the
sahabiyat (rAa) did. Note that they did not hesitate or delay or make
excuses: when they were told by Allah SWT to wear the garment called
"jilbab", they did, right away.

And there is more even than this. Some of the women remained in seclusion
and never went out so that they did not own the garment called "jilbab".

The hadiths record that the Prophet (sAas) commanded the women to come out for
the Eid gathering, and what he said about the issue of the garment called
"jilbab":

Sahih Bukhari Book 8 #347. Narrated Umm Atiyya: We were ordered to bring out
our menstruating women and screened women to the religious gatherings and
invocation of the Muslims on the two Eid festivals. These menstruating women
were to keep away from the musalla. A woman asked, "O Messenger of Allah!
What about one who does not have a jilbab?". He said, "Let her borrow the
jilbab of her companion".

Please sisters note that some of the women even stayed home and did not go out because they did not have a jilbab ..

SubhanAllah !!...Now look at us .....We are running around in jeans and even tight clothing and not even ashamed of it ...

I'm not trying to dictate anyone what to wear , its between person and Allah ,but this is my sincere advice to all ,to look at what Quran and Sunnah tells us to wear and not what Hijabi Fashion blogs or our friends tell us to wear ...

Remember that all what we do is for Allah only , to please Him only ..

By the way , it makes life so much easier and stress free ,when you just beautify yourself ,wear whatever you like and then just throw abaya or jilbab over it ,when you going out ...
Trust me it saves you so much time and money .
How much time do you spend in front of the mirror and trying to match Hijab with the shirt ,then undershirt ,then skirt or jeans .How much time do you spend running around the Malls and looking for the tops to match with this and that ...How much money and time do you spend on this ? And how stressful you are after that?
Islam is easy , it is we who make it difficult ...

We also have to remember to show our Islamic Identity, not only through clothes , but through our manners , our behavior towards others. We , as Muslims in West have to represent Islam in the best way we can ....
And Remember

"That one of the best means of da’wah is to be a good example yourself, and adhere to the rulings of Islam, and to its noble morals."

What is a Mosque?

A mosque is a place where muslims perform their prayers and worship Allah. Mosque in Arabic is 'Masjid'. Mosque reflects the idea of universal equality and brotherhood in Islam as all can stand side by side to perform their prayer irrespective of their wealth, color and race. In almost all the countries there are mosques where people meet five times a day to worship Allah.
